When a long term Covenant
missionary prepares for home assignment/furlough/home ministries (whatever you
want to call it!), there is a long checklist of things that need to get
done. Some days, that checklist is
fun to work with…it feeds the organizer side of me (Barb) that likes to get
things checked off and done! I am, always have been, and always will be,
a list maker! But some days, that checklist just
seems to go on and on. And I do
suppose that I should be thankful that our checklist was shortened, in many
ways, since our time to head to the US came one year sooner than we had
anticipated as Steve felt called to reactivate as a Covenant missionary.
So, here we are on the shorter
end of the checklist now. We’ve
made the big jump across the “pond” (the Atlantic Ocean as known in the real
world). We vacated well to Iceland
for a few days of vacation with friends, and then have enjoyed loads of fun
things to check off “the checklist”.
Here are a few samples of things
that we’ve checked off….
1. Picking up and registering the
car
 |
| Getting registered and legal ~ important thing to do! |
 |
| Trust me....we did not plan for a tire blowout on I-94 just south of Madison, Wisconsin....check out the casino right in back of us! |
 |
| Thankful that we remembered there was sunscreen in the car while we waited 2+ hours for the tow truck in hot summer sun! |
2. Annual Meeting/Gather/Steve’s
reactivating as a missionary
Barb hanging out in Indiana
working as “coach” to her sister Char for knee surgery
Barb going to Triennial in Kansas City
Keep checking up on us ~ we’re
loving this part of the journey and are excited to see where God is leading us
to next! Now that we’re “officially”
a missionary couple with Covenant World Mission/Serve Global, Steve will also
be updating this blog. Stay tuned….
